This is the best thing I've found today that sums up how I feel about the EU campaign and result, so archiving it here for future reference. From an Australian journalist, because everything I read in the British press is infused with too much emotion for my stomach, especially today:  Whipping Up Fear To Sway the Brexit VoteAs for me, I managed to ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear about your fall. I'm recovering my inner calm (or whatever) about the referendum but I'm still disappointed. We've been considering coming back to the UK but will definitely be holding off on that one for a while. I'm still angry with David Cameron - he's pretty much gambled Britain's future for a chance of perpetuating his career. Selfish so-and-so.

I think we're on the same page :(.

Sorry to hear this has affected your long-term plans to return to the UK. On your behalf and also selfishly, as I'd like us to be in the same country! It's hard to say what things will look like after this. We'll have to wait and see.

There was a chance a few months ago that Dave would be without work (didn't eventuate) and we decided that it that happened we would come back. as it didn't, we thought we would wait until Sarah finishes the never-ending degree. Now, we will have to wait and see. If the pound doesn't recover, we won't be able to afford the move (that nice cottage in the Dales might be a bit too expensive).

How do you mean? Wouldn't a weaker pound make property prices more affordable for you in England?

Yes. I got that the wrong way round. I'm actually worried about the money we didn't transfer to Australia (because we were thinking of moving back) and now won't be worth what it was when we should have moved it. So it's the kitchen here we can't afford, not the house in Yorkshire! Shouldn't type when tired and upset (upset about the Brexit - terrible news).
