Sometimes I play for things just to win them for friends. Seriously. So, when I saw the contest to win invitations for a premiere of Halo3 for Xbox360 with LL Cool J present, I thought, why not - I know someone who'd enjoy it. I won. The radio screwed up, however and didn't send me the tickets on time which meant I had to go there myself in the end to be ID'd with the guests list. Couldn't give the tickets away anymore. It turned out everyone of my friends had plans for tonight, but I decided to go on my own, anyways.
The beginning was quite entertaining, they showed a short movie about the game (which I knew nothing about), LL Cool J played in multiplayer mode against inter alia Carmen Electra and Pharrell - they weren't very good. :) The creator of the game played one mission as well - and got killed quite a few times. The game looked cool on the big screen. Then it was free time - there were a few machines left there on which you could try out the game yourself. I planned on going home first, but they announced that if you waited till 23 (2 hours!) you'd get a goodie bag and they hinted heavily that the game will be included. After a minute of deliberation, I thought, what the hell, I can wait. Will be a nice gift. They had free drinks (yay for Mojito Razz!) anyway and quite good snacks, including sweets. :) I found a nice quiet place to sit down and prepared myself for waiting, while enjoying watching the excited boys (did I mention I was one of the few women there?) play Halo3. Didn't sit alone for long, though. It turned out to be quite a fun night thanks to one of the guys who sat next to me and insisted on entertaining me. (and thanks to mojitos) :) He even made me play Halo3 with him in the end - btw, I suck, how the hell you guys know which button is for what?!?! I repeatedly moved my visor instead of walking somewhere. Had fun and got the game in the end. :)
