Progress

Well, since the theme of this journal is officially politics and camp improvements, let me update you on the current progress of improving the camp. I'll save the politics for another time.

Today a lot was accomplished. All the metal garbage that was surrounding the Quonset Hut (notice the correct spelling of "Quonset") was dragged up the hill and placed by the side of the driveway/road on Saturday. Jack Petcaugh came up tonight and took it all away. Now all that junk is gone. Good riddens!!!

I took the time to plant some new things in front of the Dining Hall. Dwarf alberta spruce, hostas, pansies and one barbary. It looks good, but I want to do more. I mulched it with some decent looking pine mulch. Maybe next week I'll landscape around the Director's House.

Jim & Kathy Regan came up and began painting cabin 10. My hope is that we will have all the cabins painted by this summer. If not, we'll try to get them done during the summer. It looks much nicer already.

Tomorrow, work begins on the basketball court. It's going to be torn up and replaced with new concrete. The Hatboro church is going to be funding the project. It should be done within a week.

This afternoon, I met with our new propane company. Within the next few weeks, they are going to be replacing all the large and small propane tanks on the camp property. I found out that most of the current tanks have been on the property since 1960. How do you like that! No wonder they are all rusty and gross. Well, goodbye old tanks. May you rot in a landfill somewhere.

There is more that I could type, but that would be just as tiring at this point, as the work that was actually done. So you'll just have to stop by and see it for yourself.
