Entropy is relentless.

Today I reflected upon the fact that I wish to be able to preserve everything, and to experience change in a controlled manner and at a rate of my own choosing. It's probably either something that stems from or contributes to my OCD proclivities. However it's neither pragmatic nor realistic to think that you can prevent change simply by stopping or putting a thing on hold. Entropy occurs even when you neglect things (and sometimes more so). This is true both in the physical sense and in terms of human relationships. I struggle to keep this in mind. The proverb 'time and tide wait for no man' encapsulates this concern I suppose, but it doesn't leave me with any sense of urgency as it should. I think that a more suitably motivational statement for me would be 'entropy is relentless.' It's something that I need to reflect on more often to help ward off my own complacency and apathy.

Entropy is relentless.
Entropy is relentless.
Entropy is relentless.
