Today was another long day at work and I was too tired to do any work on the house, so I didn't go out to the new house tonight.
However, I did go to Home Depot to check out options for the porch light. I had a particular lamp in mind, but when I got there and looking at everything I decided that I liked another design better. Then when I went to look for the proper "siding mounting panel" I discovered that they don't stock ANY of them, so I called off the whole motion-sensing porch light idea for now. I did pick up an "inline" motion sensor though, but it might be too big to be used in the current porch lamp housing. I also got an "inline" photometric sensor, though I'm not sure if it will work properly with the LED bulbs that I've picked up.
I also looked at concrete blocks to use around the house and shop foundations--I will make a block perimeter a foot or two from the house and then backfill with some gravel-- so that I can run some soaker hoses while keeping weeds and whatnot off the edge of the house and shop. There are some blocks that are just about the right size that are pretty inexpensive--though by the time I get enough of them it probably won't be cheap.
