Make it work. That is my group's moto. They do a lot of hacking stuff together late at night in the lab to meet crazy deadlines and so sometimes its not exactly what you'd do if you wre making a product. But its a one off so it just has to work for just long enough.
Its a one of a kind piece for a special occasion. Proton beams! circuit couture
Lets see, Dan got into UC Irvine and UC Riverside (that he knows of so far) for a PhD in physics/astronomy. At Riverside it seemed awesome, the astronomy people had him over for a personal visit and were really friendly and had interesting stuff they were doing and were really excited to have him. Even made some crazy offers regarding research he could start on working out of Caltech (super close to us). Irvine emailed an offer and financially they offered even more and its a bit more prestigious but no personal calls or invites and the traffic out there from Pasadena would be hellatious.
My group at JPL has tons of work as a mission to Europa is a go and it has mad wicked radiation.
Between visiting Riverside the other weekends I saw my family, my parents are so close its good but strange. I know Dan is missing his family.
I've been working out after work and its making a really fast change. I have to admit, i got a trainer so it helps me figure out how to be fast and effective and I repeat what I learned later but push myself harder on my own. I actually got complimented for how much weight I was doing by some random. I am a nerd and do the group exercise classes at my gym for cardio since I don't really care for the machines. I really like Turbo Kick Box b/c i just love punching and kicking shit. My trainer is in an old boxing club on top of a shuttered chinese restaraunt in old town pasadena.
I am reading VB today to alter a power supply program. I am getting better at hardware stuff but mostly doing low level coding so those skills are going away.
I have been doing a lot of late work hours to get stuff tested. I subject electronic devices to intense radiation and see what happens. Do the parametrics slip, can it still function, did the charge pump explode. It takes a lot of time.
