How I spent my Christmas/New Years vacation.
This weekend I had 4 days off so I camped at Montana de Oro state park by Los Osos all weekend. Perhaps better known for being close to San Luis Obipso and Morro Bay. I mountain biked on some insane trails, star watched along the ocean at night, looked at tidepools, went to some bouldering areas on bishop's peak, and went to the monarch butterfly groves. Sadly, when I was a kid the trees were filled with them and there were hundreds of thousands of butteflies. Now there were only 17,000 this year and they mostly stayed in bunches high in the eucalyptus instead of covering entire trees from tip top to trunk bottom.
