Well, after the grueling first few days of the semester I've finished all of the auditions and such that determine what ensembles I'm in. I finally made Jazz Band after 3 tries auditioning before so I'm really pumped about that. I also managed to get into symphonic band even though I really wasn't trying to get in that class to begin with. No matter though the repetoire looks pretty interesting and I know a lot of the ppl in the class. It's kind of weird being back in the trumpet studio. I'm not really on a close friend basis with anyone in the studio except for Tim. Hopefully now that I'm back in the studio I'll get to know the people in it a lot better. The studio had a masterclass today and we watched a visiting performer play a few things. This guy had the weirdest embouchure I've ever seen. To show you how he was playing do this. Pucker up your lips then push the middle part off to the side, thats how he was playing! And the awesome part was, he sounded really fuckin good! Just goes to show if the embouchure you're playing on works, DONT CHANGE IT! Of course that goes completely against the so called Proper Trumpet Playing mechanics but thats just what I think. If a guy can play like that with that embouchure there is absolutely no need to change it. Oh well, thats just my little rant for now. I'm off to waste more time by playing with my computer, which by the way kicks major ass! :)
