The third thrilling installment of 2008's The Free Time of Jim series features my movie-going habits for the past year. A bit of a poor showing, truth be told, with only three visits to the cinema out of twenty-two films viewed. But, that said, those three trips to the flicks were for the big-ticket blockbusters of my geek calendar - Iron Man, which has my movie of the year award because it was so damned awesome (fanboy bias, you say? P’shaw, I retort), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Quantum of Solace. Oddly, ’08 was the year of superhero movies for me, with five on the card almost back-to-back, although I did miss The Dark Knight (something I hope to remedy soonish).
Meanwhile, 2009 promises good things, with Watchmen and the new iteration of Star Trek incoming. Other than that, wake me for Iron Man II in 2010…
