2K11 Games

So, I kick off my annual review of all the things that I spent time doing instead of working by looking over my gaming for 2011. I have to say, the Playstation 3 didn't get a lot of love last year, often because I was forced to play my least favourite game, "System Update", almost every time I tuned the thing on. On the whole, I played three times as many Xbox games; but with the purchase of a Smartphone this year, and thus gaining a new gaming platform, app games also got a look in.

It was mostly a year of shooters and drivers for me, although I played slightly less new titles than I did in 2010. This was also a banner year for me, as four titles I actually worked on came out - Crysis 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the two DLCs Pigsy's Perfect 10 (for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West) and The Missing Link (for DX:HR). But I still didn't go back and finish up all those RPG titles I said I would. My game of the year is a tough pick; as much as I want to rave about Deus Ex: Human Revolution again, I won't. Instead, I pick the sublime Portal 2, which challenged and amused me in equal measure.

Here's my full list:
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3D (Playstation 3 version), Rayman Raving Rabbids, Ilomilo, Crash Time 4: The Syndicate, Zeit2, Breach, Fable III, Bulletstorm, Angry Birds, Air Control, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (Xbox 360 version), 007 Blood Stone, Game Dev Story, Battle: Los Angeles, Joy Ride, Pilotwings Resort, Yar's Revenge, Tron Evolution (PS3 version), Gears of War 3, Hitman: Blood Money, Red Faction: Armageddon, F.3.A.R., Dead Nation, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Killzone 3, Portal 2, Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Blood Drive, Driver: San Francisco, The Sims 3, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, Rock Band 3, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, Battlefield 3, Forza Motorsport 4, Trials Evolution, Need For Speed: The Run, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Marvel Utlimate Alliance 2, Need For Speed: Carbon, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, SkyDrift, Frozen Bubble, GalaxIR

As for 2011, what am I looking forward to? Syndicate, the FPS reboot of the old cyberpunk classic, has the potential to be very cool, and the more I see about Spec Ops: The Line the more I like it. Other than that, I'm eyeing Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Bioshock Infinite and Hitman Absolution with interest. And With a fifth Grand Theft Auto and a fourth Halo on the way, I think I'll be well served. Still pining for Half Life Episode Three, though...
