"Bring Me A Dream" part one

Kassandra looked out the passenger window as Breena pulled up in front of Monroe's house. Through the window, they could see Monroe, Rosalie, and Hank.

"Where's Nick?" Breena questioned.

"My guess would be resting upstairs," Kassandra conjectured as she unbuckled her seatbelt.
Breena watched her friend get out.

They had gotten the phone call when she was at the hospital for her monthly check-up. Monroe & Hank had both been trying to get a hold of her to tell her that Nick had been blinded, and then left messages asking her to meet them at Kelly's sister's house, quickly outlining what they were planning.

"We can always use the extra pair of hands," Monroe said, and then after a beat, in a little ore confidential tone. "I think he's really scared here."

Breena had to be the one to explain in the blutbad that the reason Kassandra had not been answering her cellphone was because she was getting her check-up and and to turn her phone off. They had gone back to Kelly's house, but Kassandra had argued that the house was already crowded enough as it was.

"We'll catch them at Monroe's," she said with finality, but Brenna had the suspicion she was more scared than she was letting on.

Breena noticed the quickened pace Kassandr adopted as she went through the gate, up the sidewalk, and to Monroe's front door. As an afterthought, Kassandra waved to Breena just as Rosalie opeend the front dodor.

The two women hugged.

"Hi. You alright?"

"I'm alright." Rosalie smiled but it didn't quite reach her eyes. She still looked worried. "He's starting to think something happened."

Monroe appeared behind Rosalie, coming forward, looking anxious. "Kass..thank God. Hank's with him but I'm not sure."

There was a thump and all three looked in the direction of the noise. "Hank she's here.." Nick's insistent voice told his partner.

"Let me go get her," Hank was telling him. And then "No..Roslaie said you need to keep it on."

Then a squeak of the bed let them know Nick had agreed to lay donw. Hank emerged from the staircas,e looking tired.

"Hey, Detective," Kassandra was looking past him, up the stairs, to where she knew Nick was.

He stood aside with a knowing smile. Only Monroe heard the "I'll be damned.." When he heard footsteps, Nick got up again, feeling his way until he felt her skin. 'Spring rain..Kassandra'.

kassandra wrapped her arms around him, allowing herself a moment to reassure herself that he was going to be okay. She involuntarily shivered when he stroked her hair.

"Kass..." Nick whispered her name.

"I'm here. Everything's okay." She gently put her hand on the small of his back. "elt's get you laying down again, okay? You need tor estr.."

"Did you hear about what happened?" Nicks till held on to her as she gently tucked the covers around hin.

"I was filled in," she brushed her fingers through his hair. His hand went on top of hers, holding it to him, wishing he could see her eyes.

"Did anyone mention my newfound discouvery?"

"Discovery?" Their fingers interlaced on top of the covers. Kassandra's free hand continued to softlly caress his forehead. It stopped when he told her about his newfound "Superhearing".

"Kassandra?" He felt the weight of the bed shift. PUrely on instinct, Nick reached for her again, this time pulling her flush against his chest. "I could feel him... I knew wher ehe was.." he continued almost urgently. "My eyes didn't work...still don't work.."

Soft lips in his cut him off. His hands tangled in her long brown hair as every nerve in his body jumped from the electrical shick surging through him.

"Whoa..." he whispered when the kiss finally broke.

"You okay?" Kassandra whispered, a little concerned.

His response was to kiss her again.

"Oh...Nick..sorry man." They only became aware of Monroe's presence when he spoke. "I was just coming to see if you needed anything, but obviously you're doing fine..better than fine actually." Monroe took a step towards the staircase. "I'll just leave now."

Nick and Kassandra shared a moment of embarrassed laughter, Kassandra's muffled against Nick's chest
Then he felt her start to tremble." Hey..it's okay, I'm not going to hurt you. I promise."

It's not that.

"Then what?"

Oh yeah...he can hear me too. Especially since..

"It's just been a while." She pecked his cheek this time, trying to reassure him. He felt her carefully position herself so she was lyi8ng beside him. He cradled her against his side, kissing her hair, breathing her in, continuing to whisper reassurances that she was okay.

"I smell like spring rain, huh?" she gently kidded him.

Nick chuckled as under his bandages, he blushed. Her hand traced unknown patterns on his chest. It was Nick's turn to shiver.

"Can I get you anything?" her tone softened again.

"Will you stay?"

"As long as you want."

She closed her eyes as she listened to Nick's breathing even out and then deepen slightly, indicating that he was asleep. She soon found herself falling asleep as well, wrapped securely in Nick's arms.
This was the scene that Rosalie and Monroe found when they came to check on them.

"See? I told you. Nick's fine.." Monroe commented when he saw his friend had his arms wrapped around Kassandra.

Rosalie smiled for the first time since the whole ordeal started. "Let's not wake them," she whispered. She took Monroe's hand and they silently left the room once again.
