Proverbs 25

If your enemies are hungry, give them bread to eat; and if they are thirsty, give them water to drink for you will heap coals of fire on their head and the Lord will reward you.

God must detest those who return acts of kindness with hostility. We should not be the enemies of those who give us aid in our time of need. Could it be that the best way to combat enemies is to break the cycle of hostility an be charitable?

Of course, there must be times when this would not be practical. Hitler should have been exterminated. There is a difference between being an enemy and being a depraved mass murderer.
