WPI didn't prepare me for life

WPI's little slogan there, "The University of Science and Technology. And Life." is incorrect.

I am not prepared for life! I am not prepared for graduate studies...that is for sure. I can WHALE on the group work but I can't seem to do calculus....

Professors in the WPI Civil Dept. didn't actually have us USE calc. in classes, so I never applied calc that I learned frosh and soph year, and now it's gone...OUT OF MY HEAD.

I have a midterm tonight and boy am I worried about it. Yes, there will be integration or differentiation or one of those things on the exam and I'll have no idea how to do it.

I'm angry that WPI's undergrad program is really good at preparing you for a real job but not for further studies. I'm angry at myself for not realizing that I should be learning this stuff (hell, I never really thought I'd bother with grad school).

So yea, my first midterm of the semester is tonight. It's in my Site Remediation course, which I am quickly discovering, is quite interesting but probably not applicable to my research.

If I ever figure out what I want to do for research....

In other news! My mom had a dinner party last Saturday night for her former campaign volunteers and workers at the Low Level Radioactive Management...(or something like that). One of the attendees is the current senior enforcement counsel for the EPA in Boston...to make it short and sweet, I have a business card and a friendly contact way up in the EPA structure. I'd love a summer internship at the EPA and perhaps this will help!

Back to sville now (I'm studying in Bedford because it's more productive!)

Oh, and today is Isaac's birthday! Happy Birthday Isaac! (not that he reads this, thankfully)
