Work friend or real friend?
Sometimes the lines blur in my head between a work friend and a real friend. Often times in this job, the lines blur too much and you can mistake someone for being a real friend.
I had a conversation tonight with my on-call partner that opened my eyes to this very thought. "Most of my friends are work friends and after this job ends, so will the friendship." Of course, being in this job it's very hard not to make friends with your coworkers since you rely so much on them and often times are going through the exact same thing as you.
In hindsight, I should of known this by now. About all the people that I considered real friends last year ended up being just work friends. In passing we'll say hi and chat but we'd never go out now. There's no need.
Just sometimes, it hits ya and you were like "whoa." This was one of those things.
