First, I want to thank everyone who went to such trouble and expense to make my birthday celebration such a wonderful surprise. I enjoyed it very much and appreciate all your gifts and effort.

Now, I watched The Black Donnelly’s last night. It was wonderfully well written and the actors for the most part were ones I had been previously familiar with from the Law and Order franchise so I was set to be favorably disposed.
I came away depressed. It airs in the time slot which had had Aaron Sorkin’s Studio 60 in it, and I really love that show. It’s like the modern TV equivalent of a Tracy/Hepburn movie. So to go from my Monday night viewing being an evening of witty banter and likeable characters to this, was a bit of an upset. I am not saying the show was disappointing in its quality, in any way, but the storyline and theme seems to be that no matter how well intentioned your life, caring about people (too much) will drag you down to the point that you might as well put a gun to your head. Depressing and distressing.

On a lighter note, I am looking for input on the idea of a Second Annual Easter Brunch and would like to know the level of interest out there. Comments, anyone?
