Here I am again, 3:42 in the morning, though this time I graced the Student Center with my presence. Needless to say, all the sane people have been sleeping for hours, whilst I finished all my homework assignments from today. In addition to this, I finished the first phase of a project for ICS tonight, which mostly consisted of shuffling data amongst several spreadsheets. In theory, I'll finish a Gantt chart tomorrow, which will represent inventory at a warehouse in DC for a certain well-known-but-I'm-not-sure-I-should-write-it-here retail chain. Ah well...
Classes went well yesterday. My college career commenced with a 12:00 lecture in Political Science 1101. The class should be fairly entertaining, and the teacher won bonus points for mocking both major political parties within 15 minutes. In the class, we will set up our own congress, and each person will create a bill and attempt to get it passed. We must also write an argumentative essay, roughly in the style of an editorial, on some topic (preferably it should be arguing for your bill to get passed).
English lasted all of 15 minutes today, with our only assignment to create a WebX account and read a little 16-page something. The theme for the class is nuclear arms... heck yeah... this is my kinda english :)
Calc was... Algebra. We reviewed inequalities mostly. We should be dealing with calculus by next week, though. I just finished my 30-or-so math problems that were assigned as homework. For some reason, I'm strangely motivated to do schoolwork here, something I've never quite felt before. Perhaps it's the constant reminding that "Tech is harder than High School", but I think it's something more than that. I think the environment itself fosters a sense of learning and a desire to succeed. My High School studying consisted primarily of grabbing a bite at Chick-Fil-A before a test, and maybe skimming through the book... depending on how much I was in the mood for CFA. Ah well, 'tis all for the better I suppose.
In slightly less academic news, Katie and I have been dating for three months as of yesterday. I miss her, but realize it's only temporary and that I will see her eventually, though it'd certainly have been nice to see her yesterday. I become more convinced every day that it wasn't a mistake to stay together in college. She starts classes today... I'm quite positive she'll do fine (I mean, she has to be smarter than the military guys... and she probably is smarter than most of the girls there too). I keep meeting new people here at Tech as well, which adds a nice break from studies. Just tonight, I finally met someone with whom I've spoken for quite some time. I keep attempting not to shun my old friends, though it's quite difficult at times. I'll probably try to get a lot of us together this Friday to go see the Goo Goo Dolls down at On The Bricks.
Anyway... I ought to get some rest before my 1:00 class tomorrow (oh yeah, my schedule rocks). CS starts tomorrow night as well, which should prove interesting. Anyway... g'morning all.
