The War on Pseudoephedrine

The War on Pseudoephedrine continues unabated. Fortunately, the forces of darkness and nasal congestion have lost this battle.

This has to be among the dumbest government filed lawsuits ever. Essentially, various counties in Arkansas sued because the drug companies used legal means to lobby against restrictions on the sale of pseudoephedrine. I say "Damn right they did!"

The companies are now selling craptastic replacements which are less effective while the market for pseudoephedrine is smaller because of the hassle involved in buying it. The companies did exactly what they should do. It isn't their fault that dumbasses do stupid (and illegal) things with their product. Pseudoephedrine is safe and effective. I use it when I have a cold and occasionally for my allergies. I'm glad the restrictions here aren't as bad as elsewhere, but I still find it annoying that most places take my driver's license data before giving me the medicine (that may be what's required now, instead of the silly signature sheet they used to have).

stupidity, drugs, legal
