I started watching the show Sleeper Cell over the weekend on Netflix's Watch Now. The main character is a black American Muslim FBI agent who is infiltrating a terrorist cell based in the United States. I finished the first season last night and remain impressed with the show.
The show includes a variety of moderate Muslim voices - the ones that tend to get drowned out in the media by extremists because if it bleeds, it leads. It also looks very hard at the risks that might have to be taken to reach other units (either vertically or horizontally) in a cell based terrorist structure.
Overall, I really enjoyed season 1. I'm looking forward to season 2. I understand that if a 3rd season is made, it will be based on new characters. I think that this is a good plan, because I can't see how they could stretch the same person infiltrating three different terrorist cells after two of his previous cells are blown (I presume that in season 2 no major terrorist act will succeed because I don't think the TV industry could handle their hero not saving the day).
