A Crawfordsville High School band instructor is the subject of a police investigation into alleged inappropriate contact with a student.
William Cory Reynard, 27, has not been charged with a crime. Crawfordsville Police on Wednesday seized what they called evidence from Reynard’s home on Country Club Road.
Crawfordsville Police Detective Lori Ford will share information with Montgomery County Prosecutor Joseph Buser for criminal consideration when her investigation is complete. She was not sure when that will be.
Reynard, a 2001 Ball State University graduate, was hired by Crawfordsville schools in August 2002. Reynard’s inappropriate contact with a juvenile girl took place in his first year there, Crawfordsville Police Chief Kurt Knecht said. Henderson said the girl was a former band student.
Reynard teaches at Tuttle Middle School and Crawfordsville High School. High School principal Jeffry Henderson said Thursday the corporation is cooperating with police.
Reynard now is making lesson plans for substitutes to present to band students, Henderson said. The musician has not been proven guilty or charged with a crime, but “Mr. Reynard’s teaching duties in the school system will not involve student contact until the investigation’s completion,” Henderson said.
Knecht expects Buser to file criminal charges.
Reynard could not be reached for comment.
