Can Orwell write? (1984 and a book within a book)
I am two thirds through 1984. (yes, i went to dallas for a wedding so naturally read alot) The last 30 pages of narration was the main character reading a fucking book. What the fuck!? "I can't work these ideas in, so I'll just have him read a book explaining my idea of how fucked up society can become." I really liked Animal Farm. This just makes me question his ability as an author.
Currently Winston is in jail after reading the book. I will try to finish it this week, but normally I'd just put the book down and say its not worth my time. Its like when Kingdom Hearts wanted me to gather fucking wood to build a raft after watching an hour cut scene. The crappy reading could have been used to set the setting toward the beginning but who the fuck stops in the middle of a book to read a book about setting?
