I don't get to use this icon enough...
Been reading GW fics off and on lately. Which, unfortunately, means I'm being reminded of all the fucking stereotypes that drove me away. >.< Duo is not a constantly smiling idiot (the only time he seems to smile a lot ifs in battle), Quatre is not an uber-rich innocent (he was cut off from his family when he joined up with the Maguanacs and H), Wufei is not a misogynist (he just pities the weak) and HEERO IS NOT THE PERFECT FUCKING SOLDIER.
Heero is not a soldier. He really REALLY isn't. He doesn't work well with others, he's far too prone to following his own emotions rather than his orders (despite what all the fanbrats think -- pay attention!) and it's been shown in canon that he can only successfully fake the opposite for a limited amount of time before he blows something up.
Heero is an assassin. All the G-boys are, in their own way, but in Heero's case, it's what he was raised for. First with Odin, then with J. He works alone unless he has no choice and he likes it that way.
Out of all of them, Trowa is an ideal soldier. He was raised to work with others as part of a team; the group always comes before the individual. He was comfortable to infiltrate Oz as one of their soldiers and was so convincing that he became someone Colonel Une actually trusted. He follows orders to the letter, and his discipline is unquestionable.
While I'm sure some of this is arguable and I know my reasoning isn't strong enough for some, all you have to do is READ EPISODE ZERO and you'll see. Or read a summary, even! Gah! *growlgrumblesnarl*
