The dangers of punctuation!

Nov 29, 2007 11:57

In reading Lynne Truss's "Eats, Shoots & Leaves", I have discovered the dangers of reading a book about a punctuation stickler when I'm already a bit of a grammar-nazi: I ca no longer type "SAMS TEES" without wincing. >.<

See, as part of my job, I'm required to fulfill requests for typeset imprints and many of these requests are made through online forms. You all know how lazy people can get when typing things online. Needless to say, the poor apostrophe takes a beating like no other and many other grammatical standards are unceremoniously tossed out the window. -.-

My hands twitch with the need to correct them all. I know I'm not perfect (I worship my spell-checking program) but some of the mistakes are so damn obvious! ARGH!
