~ Going to the follow up specialist visit with step-dad on Friday. He was on top of everything, in terms of checking his meds, getting records, getting the follow up tests the doctor wanted. He called to tell me when the appointment was but that he knew I was working that day so he'd call me and tell me the results afterward. I...would rather just go with him, so I'm taking sick/medical leave. Now I just have to hope that the weather is okay on Friday.
~ My plan going forward is to not discuss step-dad with Mom and to deflect when she brings him up. They are over but he is still the father figure that I had/have. Bitch about him to your girlfriends, not to me. (FWIW, I know things that I think are TMI about him and my father, because she has no filter. Which is why I don't discuss some things with her.)
~ Had a phone interview. It went fine, I guess, although the position isn't really one I'm qualified for? It was more an intro to the company for future reference/positions as they come open.
~ Chocolatier Bleu is excellent, if spendy. I would highly recommend the chili and caramel chocolates.
~ Tickets to the Wild @ Caps tomorrow. I hope the weather cooperates.
~ Went to the Pens @ Caps last week. Caps fans are special assholes when the Penguins are in town; even relative to other division teams, their rudeness to Pens players and fans is markedly noticeable. Which is why I laugh at pics of Leonsis sitting among Pens fans, which he hates. I had an excellent view of Malkin's movement up the ice and pass to Hornqvist for a goal, and also of Sutter's short handed goal.
~ I know hockey fandom really likes Tom Wilson, courtesy of Epix and him being sort of cute (if you like that type), but he's a thug IMO. In addition to bumping Malkin at the line during warm ups, he was jawing away at Bortuzzo (who was a healthy scratch but participated in warm ups), which I'm not sure people or the camera caught. I only caught it because I was *right there* near the line for warm ups. But apparently being cute and living with another cute thug/bro means that people don't notice that you are a younger, less offensively talented version of Milan Lucic and the like. Say what you want about Matt Cooke, Steve Downie, etc., but they have offensive upsides that I'm not seeing for Wilson. (I could be wrong and maybe he'll get better? But he looks like a scattered, wrecking ball on the ice to me.)
