Three people -- not close friends or family, just casual acquaintances -- have observed to me that I have lost a lot of weight but would look so much better if I bought new clothes that showed my shape better.

Uh, thank you?

But also -- fuck you, do you have any idea how expensive it is to replace an entire wardrobe?  Not just a few outfits for work, but an entire wardrobe?

Because it's not just work clothes that don't really fit anymore.  Everything needs to be replaced: work clothes, play clothes, top to bottom.  And since I'm not independently wealthy, I can't really afford to drop several thousand dollars on new clothes, which is what it would cost to replace everything.  And that assumes that this is my "resting" weight, while I'd like to lose about twenty more pounds.  Some things have to be replaced (hello, underthings that actually fit) and other things are still wearable even if they aren't terribly flattering (pants that need to be belted in), while others have been taken in (not cheap but less expensive than outright replacement, and useful for things that are not in this year's style).

So, thank you for noticing but I'll be sticking with the baggy clothes for a little bit longer.

oh life it's bigger, cranky, naked would be better
