I spoke to the sales manager at AMD today. My aircraft is mostly done, but not finished yet. It's supposed to go into the paint shop Friday, then be finished up and ground tested next week. I'm now scheduled to go to the factory on June 10; I'll inspect it, approve the funds transfer, then fly it there for a couple of days before departing for home via a very roundabout path.
Dammit, I'm getting antsy. OTOH, the delay does greatly simplify my travel plans; I'll go to the Siouxland Renaissance Festival the preceding weekend, then fly from FSD to Atlanta on Monday, take a shuttle to Warner Robins that afternoon, and catch a ride to the factory from there Tuesday morning. If I'd gone next week, I'd have had to take a trip to New York City in the middle of the week, and go to Sioux Falls over the weekend, both of which meant extra trips. (There's no way in hell I'll miss the Siouxland faire.)
I expect it'll take me a week, maybe more, to get home. The trip is greatly dependent on weather, and there are a lot of folks to show the aircraft to. Fortunately, that won't be a big problem with my boss; they're as happy about me getting a plane as I am.
