everything is changing. my grandmother (who i call 'nanny') on my mom's side passed away this week. therefore, my mom is in england for an indefinite period of time. she has a flight back on the 18th, but she may come home sooner. who knows. it is good that it happened now; nanny was very old (91) and my mom was prepared for it. nanny didn't suffer. that is how death should be.

my roommate, agathe, is leaving today to go home to france. all of her belongings are packed. honestly, even though i'll have a single (for the time being, and hopefully the spring semester), i'm so sad to see her go. she has been the easiest person to live with and taught me a lot about the value in exploring/traveling the world. she said that the next time i'm in europe i can come visit her in france. i think i am going to this coming summer...because...

during summer II session (july-august), i am most likely going to austria, the czech republic, and hungary! well, i'm going to apply for the dialogues of civilizations trip and, if all goes according to plan, i will be taking 2 4-credit classes that count towards my major (one for IAF credit, the other is, i believe, a history credit). i know i was going to study abroad in germany, but NU does not have a program there, so i would have to go through a whole petition process. i would much rather do this, the primary reason being that i get to do 2 of these 'dialogues' trips (so two summer sessions in two different places), because i have to do 2 for it to count as study abroad credit in my major. there are a bunch of amazing places to choose from. also, almost all of the expenses are covered in summer II tuition, which means that my financial aid will pay for most of it.

i took my two and only finals on tuesday. i am done with the semester. well, basically. i have to print/hand in a paper tomorrow, and then hand in another next wednesday that is done and only needs finishing touches and a print-out. needless to say, i went into work on my day off and bought a new book to read for fun. it's called 'the history of love' and i am over half-way done reading it already. it's THAT good. i know it will be one of those books i read over and over, gaining more from it each time.

also, this week i have been able to run again! well, i ran outside on sunday and that still hurt my ankle, just not as much as before, but almost. i switched to the treadmill and have done that since monday. the ankle sometimes acts up on there, but is mostly okay! i'm so happy to be able to run again; the elliptical was beginning to seriously bore me.

this is really, really long. oh, changes.
