I think it's fair to say we had a good weekend. Saturday morning I found that my invitations had been delivered, two weeks earlier than expected, sometime on Friday. They need some minor assembly, I've gotten about thirty done so far. That afternoon we went to Target to re-stock my bathroom (I was almost out of pretty much every thing that a girl might have in her bathroom) and we picked up a little address book. I have about half of my family covered and his mom got me most of his side, I just have a few more to check on. We scoured the mall and found him a shirt and tie, no luck on his sandals or a ring. I made a list of all the addresses I still need from his family and attached a sticky note saying "due back to me by Friday." It makes me feel like a teacher handing out homework, but if I don't do it this way it'll never get done.
We had dinner Saturday night at Kim & Greg's. Noah hadn't really grown bigger, but his face is definitely changing and maturing. Every time we go over there Greg has to fire up his Nintendo 360 and show off the latest game he's purchased. Most times Dan will play with him for a little bit. Dan's not a huge gaming person, he has a slightly older Nintendo system but doesn't play it more than two or three times a month. I know Kim plays with Greg on occasion, Dan's probably slightly more advanced than her. Me, I never play video games. Ever. So when Greg decided to turn on Guitar Hero and play with Dan I sat back to watch. I don't know why, but someone decided I should take a turn. I had never even seen Guitar Hero before this night. Kim and I picked a song and by halfway through I'd figured out what I was doing. Nine songs later, Greg was convinced I'm a natural gamer and had bumped me up from "beginner" to whatever the next level was. Am I ready to challenge expert-level Greg who plays several times a week? Absolutely not! But hey, for it being my first time, everyone was impressed. To impress Greg at gaming, it has to be pretty amazing.
Yesterday, after a morning of assembling invitations, I took Dan to see Ironman. I put on a big front about how I was only going to be nice to him. We won't tell him I actually enjoyed it. Then we watched the recorded season finale of The Office, and I'm not really sure what to say. Every time I thought I knew how it would end something would change. All I can say is, September better come fast.
