Spring break was.....eventful.
Thursday I got home several hours later than anticipated due to lack of sleep the night before, unexpected work stuff, traffic, typical stuff that always makes me late for everything. I found my house empty so I inhaled some leftovers and ran to Dan's house to make it by the promised time of 7:30 so we could "talk" before watching The Office and Grey's Anatomy. The "talk" which I feared was going to be something bad turned out to be a proposal and we ended up spending the whole night talking instead of watching our shows. Normally I would have been upset but the boy is so seriously amazing he actually thought far enough in advance to set the VCR to tape them. How could I say no to someone like that?
Friday it snowed all day so I spent the day throwing snow balls at my puppy. Friday night we met Steph and Andy for dinner at Zia's and were later joined by Dave Curry who dragged along Jeff Bretz and Greg Burgess. Jeff tried to squeeze his body into my tiny wool coat with no sucess and when I came back from the bathroom I found him stuck in it, seams stretching. On the way across the parking lot to go home Curry threw a snowball, supposedly at Jeff, but it hit me in the back instead. Anyone who's ever seen me in the snow knows not to mess with me, unfortunately Dave was unaware of this. I flew across the parking lot and chased him around one of the pillars outside the front door trying to hit him. I guess he's a little faster than me because he was able to turn around, bend at the waist, and I ran right into his shoulder. He stood up, my body now thrown over his shoulder, and across the parking lot he ran. It left me with some sore ribs the next day, but I've learned to expect the unexpected with that boy.
Saturday and Sunday were lazy days, lots of shoveling and playing in the snow, lots of time with Dan, and absolutely no school work.
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were 11a-11p shifts at the hospital, but only because I'm such a dedicated employee. Despite the hospital being on full capacity status I had a fairly good time with the normal ups and downs. Mike gave me a bunch of pink carnations in a vase made from an empty can of ginger ale after a particularly rough 4 hours on Tuesday so I can't complain.
The rest of the week was the way any Spring Break should be. I slept in (well tried to), didn't do any school work, and spent a lot of time relaxing. Dan and I had dinner with his parents on Saturday which was wonderful and we stopped for ice cream at good old Kountry Korner on the way home. I can't even remember the last time I had a raspberry milkshake. Him and I played Monopoly with my little sister Julie and I can't say I've ever enjoyed a board game so much. Dan has an obsession with the game, he used to play it with his old client and claims to have always won. I don't know if he lied about the past or if he just had exceptionally bad luck because I kicked his ass, and things have to be pretty bad for me to win a game. But despite losing to a girl I think he had a good time. He'll just never admit it.
So yesterday I packed up all my stuff and came back to campus to find work a mess as usual, the course calendar for my nursing class changed and the lecture I had prepared for was delayed and I was totally unprepared for the lecture we had this morning, and now I hear we're apparently going canoeing in the creek since the pond is still frozen. It's going to be a long two weeks until Easter.
