Moving across the country might just be the best idea I've ever had. For a second, all of the packing and sorting and cleaning and dumping was overwhelming to me. Now, it feels fantastic. It feels like I get to consciously choose which elements of my life get to get carried on and which elements need to be left on the curb.
But it isn't just stuff...... its people and relationships. This last week here I am spending with people who matter to me. It was kind of subconscious too. But all of the sudden, the cream just rises to the top. A couple of weeks ago Tom and I started the "Best of Kansas City Tour". We kind of made a list of our favorite places in the city to eat and see and play and have been visiting them. It is like that now with friends.... I know who is important to me and with whom I will never speak again. And it feels GREAT! Dumping baggage and carefully packing things that matter: things worth preserving.
