revisioning

Got my revisions done yesterday for fjm, for my academic article "Embedded Narrative in the Fiction of Kelly Link." It'll be appearing in Foundation sometime at the beginning of next year. Farah's notes on the paper were good and insightful (and really made me pay attention to my word choices), and make it stronger.

The biggest part of the revision was configuring the paper to the journal's style sheet and changing my citational style from MLA documentation to the style used by the journal (which I've frankly not come across before). Any in-text citation had to be changed to endnotes, and added to the endnotes I already had. Since I define a number of narratological terms in the paper, this took a while, but now it's all consistent.

I sent off my edited paper yesterday evening, after working on it for much of the afternoon. Hopefully there won't be any further revisions, but if there are, I'll do those too.

When issue number 99 comes out next year, it'll be two years since I presented the paper at ICFA, three years since I originally wrote it for my Narrative Analysis class in grad school, and four and a half years since Kelly's story "Lull" (which is the story addressed in my paper) was published in Conjunctions. It's a good thing the paper isn't topical, because academia moves slow.
