Veterans' Day
Our school's big shin dig every year is the Veterans Day assembly. It's never (in my 9 years) been on the actual day because our local Legion is full of guys who are very busy on the real day, so it's always close. The kids wave flags and sing songs and make powerpoints and do all kinds of other things like that. They are stinking adorable. And they make the veterans feel like rock stars. Our head custodian is active at the local American Legion, so he always participates ... and he always gets the most cheers because the kids know him. SO CUTE.
