Thank goodness I'm a teacher.

No matter how hard life is, how frustrated I am with red tape or personal stuff or the "grown up" sides of work, there are 750 people who without fail, amuse me and make my day better.

Sometimes it isn't easy to see how they make it better until much later, but still.

Mondays this year bring 2 first grades and a second grade class all in a row at the end of the day. They're SO LITTLE. Several of my 2nd graders today I've had for 3 years now, because I taught kindergarten the year they were that age. So I feel like I've known them forever, yet they're only 7!

One darling had a one liner today that made me sigh and breathe and count to 5 at the moment it happened, but it's made me giggle in my head numerous times since then.

We're reading the ever popular library book "Goldi-Socks and the 3 li-BEAR-ians." It introduces wonderful things such as the 5 finger rule. (Google it.) It's a logical connection, because some books are too hard, some are too easy, and some are JUST RIGHT. You know how it goes.

So we're 3/4 of the way through the book, a book that uses the standard goldilocks/3 bears plot points on EVERY SINGLE PAGE.

One little big raises his hand, with that look on his face that exclaims "I AM HAVING A FLASH OF BRILLIANCE! CALL ON ME BEFORE I EXPLODE!" (Luckily, he remembered that I don't play the "oh! oh! oh!" game and so he wasn't *actually* making noises, just looking like it. If they do, I ignore them. I can't handle that.)

So I call on him and he says "You know, this book is just like the 3 bears!"

Um, thank you. 17 pages ago I said that. Every page has pounded it over your head. So thanks and welcome to the party.

But it made me giggle a few times tonight because he was just SO stinkin' proud of himself for figuring it out. ;)
