She ate a light lunch at one of the small stalls selling pasties and sarnies...

The Pieminister is just across from the place that sells the ridiculously cheap French sea salt... XD

(By the way, I highly recommend the savory offerings from Dangerously Delicious Pies over on H St NE.)

He scooted so he was sitting with his legs folded; he’d changed out of his suit, and was instead wearing loose-fitting cotton sweatpants and a long-sleeved faded t-shirt he’d had for as long as she’d known him.

Hi Rab! ;P

“I am. Peter kicked me out of the office.”

Was that before or after he tasted the alleged coffee Elias picked up from some random caff?

She reached for one of the bits of capsicum sitting brightly in a bowl, popping it into her mouth before he shooed her away.

Get 'em used to it early. XD

He then gave her a small smile, before reaching for the carrots and turning to dump them into the pan before him.

And the score is tied at fifteen all.

“Incomparable.”

Awwwwww.

It was a handy side effect, some days-it put suspects off their guard, leading to them giving away information they’d been trying to hide on more than one occasion.

Either that or they're very, very afraid of the pregnant lady snapping and hitting them until candy comes out.

She went out more, too, having lunch with Rose at least twice a week, meeting up with Bruce for tea, socialising with colleagues she’d known for years but had fallen out of the habit of dining with.

That's cool!

And as she grew more heavily pregnant, Elias seemed to enjoy making love to her more and more.

No great surprise there.

She learned that Peter was almost painfully precise in his prose, that Elias still had the terrible habit of splitting infinitives in his...

Elias had painted it a sunny yellow while she’d been at work one day; she’d cried when she came home, delighted by the act but confusing him mightily with her reaction.

Very cheery and gender-neutral. Well done, Mr. McCoy.

Her labour, mercifully, was short-only twenty hours , half that of some of the women she knew.

O_o

Jane had called her assistant in when it was clear Ruby was about to deliver, a young woman by the name of Katharine, and she expertly cleaned and swaddled the babies while the midwife made sure Ruby was taken well-care of.

How marvelously civilized!

“They’re gorgeous,” Elias breathed, gently settling on the bed as he cradled a child in each arm.

And teeny-tiny, one imagines.

She fought back a smile at Elias’s embarrassment as she started to feed the now-awake child, his eyes focusing intently on the baby he held as she nursed.

Hey, mister, you've had those all to yourselves for months now. Let the wee bairns have their meals.

“Any ideas on what to name them?”

Maybe that's why he's so nervous. Poor Elias.

“Philip and Robert.”

Quite right, too. *tears up*

“And for his middle name?”

“Bruce.” Elias smiled as he said it, earning a gentle laugh from her.

As if Bruce's ego needed any stroking! XD

“Peter.”

*DIES*

It was cooler than even she liked, but Elias had prepared it to perfection.

The first father in the history of ever for whom being sent off to boil water was actually pointful. ;D

“Then why do you sound like Carlisle?”

BWAH. But true.

She laughed as she noticed he was wearing smiley-faced boxers.

Joe Boxer lives!

She slid with a sigh under the sheet, her body finally starting to register the aches and pains she’d been told would follow childbirth.

They probably seem minor in comparison after the crash, though.

“What’s wrong, Eli,” she whispered, noting the glittering trail now crossing his cheek.

“Not a thing,” he replied, pulling her to him. “Not a single thing.”

*schneef*

Well done, all! And well done, you! I'm glad Philip and Robert could have such a lovely and peaceful entrance into the Thingsverse.

The Pieminister is just across from the place that sells the ridiculously cheap French sea salt... XD

Pieminister! *weeps*

(By the way, I highly recommend the savory offerings from Dangerously Delicious Pies over on H St NE.)

Hmmm. Will have to see if that’s Metro accessible...

Hi Rab! ;P

BWAH! Only Elias has better hair than Rab does.

Was that before or after he tasted the alleged coffee Elias picked up from some random caff?

It was after Peter ribbed Elias...and most immediately after Peter took a sip of the dreck Elias procured.

Get 'em used to it early. XD

Mmmm. Peppers.

And the score is tied at fifteen all.

He really is a terrible tease.

Awwwwww.

And he’s right ;)

That's cool!

Why should she be miserable all of the time, just because she’s pregnant? Let the woman have a fun time of it, says I. (after all, Rose gets put through the wringer for both of them)

*picturing the two of them arguing over the intro to Star Trek, if it existed in the PW*

I think I want ST to exist in PW, just for this idea.

Consider it done!

(still no Star Wars, though. And PWStar Trek got cancelled after its tenth season, when Shatner went off to join a Buddhist Monastery).

Very cheery and gender-neutral. Well done, Mr. McCoy.

He might have had some guidance from Rona ;)

O_o

It’s all relative.

How marvelously civilized!

It’s not *completely* awful there. Rose just had a really, really bad go of it.

And teeny-tiny, one imagines.

They’re quite wee bairns, aye. As Elias grows quite fond of saying.

Quite right, too. *tears up*

He’s really a softie, is Elias. Provided you don’t provoke him.

As if Bruce's ego needed any stroking! XD

I couldn’t forget Bruce ;)

*DIES*

It just felt right.

They probably seem minor in comparison after the crash, though.

Indeed.

*schneef*

*quietly passes tissue*

Well done, all! And well done, you! I'm glad Philip and Robert could have such a lovely and peaceful entrance into the Thingsverse.

I’m not evil all of the time. In fact, it was quite nice to write this particular story-it was nice, drama-free, and peaceful.

*Sort* of. You can take the H Street Shuttle to and from Gallery Place. It's either that or the X2.

The dessert pies are also muy bueno, but that's not a direct parallel to Pieminister. Or the West Cornwall Pasty Company, for that matter.

And PWStar Trek got cancelled after its tenth season, when Shatner went off to join a Buddhist Monastery

*hearing a Shatnerian delivery of Buddhist chants*

As Elias grows quite fond of saying.

At least for a few years, until they turn into Ruby's little red-headed terrors. XD
