The Way of Things, Chapter 32

Nov 08, 2007 07:11

Peter rubbed his eyes blearily, another long day without Rose done and gone. He’d come home and, after a light supper, had spent a few hours working at the table in the kitchen. After re-reading the same report for the fourth time, he’d given up, moving to stretch out on the sofa. He had a new book he’d been meaning to read for ages, and hoped it ( Read more... )

and once again we are left to ponder till monday! they're like two scared critters...two scared crtitters jacked up on caffeine and crap sleep. At least one of them is going to have to realize that they only make themselves feel worse by hurting the other. Penny will definitely have his hands full with these two. I know you're going to do ficlets, but there's going to be a sequel right?......right? (looks forlornly at the months of dissertation writing with no TWoT to look forward to) Oh, I do have one ficlet request. Peter's kitchen, either cooking dinner or dishwashing. not very creative, but Peter imagination seems to go on overdrive in that room, so he'd probably be thrilled to live it out sometime. ahhh, can't wait for Monday!

Ah, but what will the catalyst be? *waggles eyebrows*

I know you're going to do ficlets, but there's going to be a sequel right?....

Now...don't take this the wrong way...but the thought of writing a proper sequel currently sends me into shivers of horror. I love writing Peter, I love writing Rose, I love this story to bits. But...it's a huge commitment. Literally every spare moment I have--and even some which aren't so spare--is dedicated to this fic right now, to ensuring that I do right by Peter and by Rose as I get them to their happy ending. Well, I say ending, but it's not really. So...I'd love to do a sequel, but until I'm mentally up for doing something huge again, ficlets will bridge some of the gaps. (that sounds an awful lot like whingeing, and I'm sorry about that. It's not--it's just that writing something takes a lot of effort!)

hehe, yes, let's count the possibilities.

I know, I know. you're entirely entiltled to it with all the effort you've put forth. sanity first, then fic.

EGT can correct me if I'm wrong here, but this is already taken care of, twice over. I, too, love Peter's kitchen--and, more to the point, Peter in Peter's kitchen. ;)

kitchen savvy males are delightful aren't they? maybe Rose could take him shopping for a bigger couch? umm, I'd better stop before my mind gets hijacked by the bunny.....

You mean like one of those huge things from Restoration Hardware? I can't find any pics on the site to do it justice, but I look like a five-year-old sitting on one of those, they're so deep. Perfect for napping and, er, other things.

ooh, I hadn't even thought to go with that kind. That's even better than intended. I just wanted him to get something that was wide enough for a lie down snuggle. knowing Peter, his couch is probably some thread bare antique, that while nice, isn't quite getting the job done. never mind, Rose shall educate him on the many benefits of having a 21st century couch. and of course they're going to have to do some testing to find just the right one.....

I just have to say that I own one of those couches. I love it to pieces. Its like 7 feet long and if I take off the back cushins hubby and I can jay on out backs side to side and still have room. The couch swallows people. It rivals my four poster bed in awesomess... *thinks about couch* Wanna go home to couch...

*is jealous*

I should really measure our living room to find out if it's deep enough (we have a split foyer, which makes the room a l'il shallow), since we desperately need to replace the current sofa.

FYI - There is a RH outlet in Leesburg (pretty sure) and they do a floor model sale once pr twice a year. As long as you're careful you can get a great deal on all sorts of stuff. Hubby worked for RH for a while so we got our 4K couch for much much less. Needless to say getting it into our 2nd stoey apartment (stairs ownly and they have a 90 degree turn) was interesting. When we move out I so am having some move our stuff. That said they are the ebst couches...

Those couches don't tend to turn up there very often, sadly. There's also an entire town downstate in Virginia that handles sales of 'mistake' furniture - it's first-quality stuff that got done incorrectly during the manufacturing process, like the stain was the wrong shade or they dyed the fabric the wrong color...

So clearly they're either going shoppin', or this happens not at Peter's house! :D

Hey, I feel ya. I'm currently beating my head against a case of writer's block the size of Hoboken, so I'm thoroughly impressed that (knock on wood) your ideas have continued to flow apace.

I can understand the desire for ficlets - in addition the actual chapter featuring Peter cooking for Rose - but should you choose to accept this mission, please remember one thing:
