I'm turning into such a ridiculous fangirl of this series. I was about to crawl in bed when I realized you'd updated and so I just had to stay awake to see what Peter's decision was... of course he hadn't reached one. But I wanted to use this particular review to tell you that I adore the dialogue in this fic... I can absolutely hear David Tennant saying everything Peter says in this chapter with that wonderful rolling brogue of his. Fantastic job, as usual, and I'm looking forward to more!
Oh, oh, always worth looking forward to the start of a new work day when it comes to your updates! Fabulous.
I love how he bounces back and forth and out loud, says he's not sure about join the Met, but inwardly he's all for it. :) You make Peter so much more than what we only saw in Blackpool, and make him real in a way with Rose that makes this story bigger than life.
And now... in search for caffeine to stay awake until 4pm.
Oh, oh, always worth looking forward to the start of a new work day when it comes to your updates! Fabulous.
Thank you! I honestly think that having to get out of bed to post this chapter is the only reason I ultimately make it to work on Thursdays; otherwise, I'd give into temptation, hit snooze, and finally call out sick ;)
inwardly he's all for it.
He absolutely is. Even before Elias told him of the offer, he wanted to go to the Met, and now that he has this chance? He knows he'd be a fool to miss it. But it's *hard*, taking those opportunities when you've spent so much of your life being told you're not worthy of them, or have had hope crushed over and over again.

Thank you. He's really come alive in my imagination--and much of that is up to the excellent source material we've been given.

A-men. *takes huge swig of piping hot coffee* Ahhhhh...
“I don’t need to marry her, Graeme, to stay with her.”You said once, in response to a review I left, that I had a good handle on Peter, despite never having seen Blackpool. Well, this would be an instance where I would disagree with you. I don't quite understand why Peter is adverse to marrying Rose. I understand the whole first-marriage-from-hell thing, and that as a DI, he likely sees lots of bad examples of marriage, but Peter's been in good relationships, too, and has obviously seen how marriage for Elias and Ruby is a good thing (and probably other people besides, I'm just not thinking of them). Peter spends so much time worrying that Rose doesn't want him, won't want to stay with him indefinitely, that I'm sort of surprised he wouldn't want marriage to sort of cement that she's with him
( ... )
You said once, in response to a review I left, that I had a good handle on Peter, despite never having seen Blackpool.
And indeed you still do ;)
Okay, never mind. I get it. Sometimes one has to write these out.
I definitely understand. And I'd come up with a more coherent answer, adressing your thoughts as you worked through it--but I'm still nursing that first cuppa joe (had OJ when I posted this morning, not the usual coffee).
Interesting that Graeme knows this, when Peter's only just figured it out.
This is because Graeme is a sage Gray Hair. *nods*. And he's known Peter the longest--and most consistently--of anyone else in this story, Martin inlcluded. Graeme certainly fills the father-figure role for Peter.
Except she wishes Rose had a leopard.
*narrows eyes* You're just casting about for a way to make me write an Alt!Alt!"Bringing up Baby", aren't you?
Now I'm going to have "Give My Regards to Broadway" stuck in my head all morning.
GAH! Make it stop! MAKE IT STOP! *scrambles for iPod*
And he's known Peter the longest--and most consistently--of anyone else in this story, Martin included.
*thinks* I do believe you're right. (Which is silly, because of course you're right, you're the author, you're almost always right. Only almost because so far, no leopards.)
You're just casting about for a way to make me write an Alt!Alt!"Bringing up Baby", aren't you?
Absolutely not. I don't think it should be Alt!Alt! at all. *grin*
I'll be visiting that particular coffee shop on vacation
Akjhsajh I had forgotten today was Thursday (not really, since I have to be at the doctor's in a little while and have my chemo today *yucksy face*) but I was so excited to be able to read this before I go!
I can't wait for the conversation between him and Rose.
LOL I'm not sure what "yucksy" is (it's obvious I had not had my tea at that stage in the morning) but thank you for making the same face as me, even if I don't know what it was.
My week is all weird now, with the hurricane and things being cancelled and I'm all turned around, so I did a little dance when I saw this.
Also.. how hard is it for you to remember to log in and out of your regular LJ name and this one? I have another LJ for my football pictures and I am constantly experiencing multiple personality disorders by mixing up which name I'm supposed to be using.
I'd kind of imagined it as "Mr. Yuck", on steroids.

Ah, but I *cheat*. I stay logged into my personal LJ most of the time. My comments are sent to my gMail account--and gMail allows me to reply to the comments directly through the message, which means it gets posted under my fic account username. The only catch is that you can't change your icon when you do it this way; it goes to your default. (Ok, so first thing this morning, I was actually logged in, which is why the first four replies have a different icon *g*). The only time it's an issue, is when you're trying to friend someone.

He has--he just isn't quite willing to acknowledge it yet. Poor guy, so used to having the rug pulled out from under him.

Thank you! Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to allow my mind to drift a bit...

Ummm...shall I point out that you travel OCONUS ALL THE TIME? And thus have no reason to be jealous?
