An Anniversary Thing
Peter insisted that they spend their first anniversary in Kendal-he wanted to spend the time, with Rose, in the place where everything had started. Rose had laughed, at first, asking why they couldn’t simply spend it in London, but had relented upon seeing that he was both serious and not a little stung by how cavalierly she’d

I'm so glad you enjoyed this! I literally dashed it off Saturday night in Japan, when I realized that I didn't have a thing to post on Monday. I'd wanted to write the anniversary fic for a while, et voila!
I’m actually a little surprised at Rose’s reaction ... maybe she had been making some plans of her own based around London?
Her reaction, I think, was "Oh, Peter! We could spend the weekend here, together, and never leave the flat!" It's not a disparaging comment, but one that's a bit obtuse. Silly Rose--she absolutely should have realized Peter would want to go to Kendal--but I think she'd planned a weekend hunkered down in the flat doing nothing but playing scrabble!
So did she earn the right to be the keeper of the key because of her fantastic coffee making skills, her staunch refusal to give any information to the press about Peter, or because she and her tea group single-handily chased the zanzare out of Kendal?
LOL. She earned the right years ago, after Loreen and, I think, after Natalie. I imagine Louise offered a sympathetic ear for poor Peter after Blackpool--not about what he did, but about what happened to Natalie.
Was there chocolate mousse for dessert?
Absolutely!
Has this been written yet?
It has indeed; it'll appear in the sequel.
I like that Annie was there for Peter when no one else was, and that she has remained such a good friend, but I’m very possessive of Peter on behalf of Rose and I fret about Annie on behalf of Rose. That probably doesn’t make sense, but I know what I mean.
It makes perfect sense--and is *exactly* what I'm going for with Rose and her reaction. I feel that way about the character myself, actually ;)

Seriously? Well, then I bow to you because the pacing of this is perfect. Even though it is not one of your longest, the amount of action and storytelling that takes place and is so clearly conveyed with is just amazing considering the brevity of the story itself. I hope that makes sense.

Ah, scrabble. Peter and Rose and board games... *mind drifts to happy place*

I love Louise, she's already married so Peter was off limits there, but nothing was going to stop her from stepping in as a surrogate mother. Peter is just one of those men that women want to take care of, no matter that snarky outer shell, he's really just a great big woobie.

It does. And thank you.
Peter and Rose and board games...
They do enjoy them, don't they? *g*

Yes! *sigh* He's such a sweetheart.
