Dear heavens, has it really been *that* long since I’ve posted to LJ? No wonder I’m getting messages inquiring about my general welfare!
So, ah, how have you all been? Things going well? Time been good to all y’all? Hopefully the answers are “good, yep, and yep” ;) As for me, well, I’m afraid it’s not that my life has been terribly exciting or anything-it’s just been life, and it moves pretty fast. I need to do better about heeding Ferris Bueller’s advice to stop and look around once in a while so I don’t miss it.
So what’ve I been up to? Well…not writing, sadly. Once I got out of a job that made me cry every week, I kind of lost the unrelenting drive to write daily (a blessing in that I didn't need the escapism as badly, but I do miss having that need to write write write all of the time). My new-as-of-2012 job suddenly made me properly busy, and I also kind of discovered Twitter ( I’m over there, as me. Look me up!), which is a bit more attuned to my general stream-of-consciousness way of processing things. I got a real camera, and I decided to experiment with actually posting pictures from hockey, which was a great hobby until the lockout happened. I kind of shifted fandoms, as happens, and once more became a hard-core consumer of fanfic rather than a supplier. And then this autumn, my employer sent me off to school full-time for the year, which has utterly consumed much of what used to be my surfing/reading fic time (not a complaint. Well, ok, it sort of is-I miss being able to stay current on filming for movies I’m interested in, or ficcy goodness. But it’d be churlish to complain when I’ve been given such an amazing opportunity. And it's kind of funny, to me, how much writing fanfic has come in handy for having to write papers again. Fanfic--providing useful life skills since, um, forever!). And there has been a little bit of fun travel in there--Dubai, and the UK (again), and Hong Kong, and all sorts of fun places around North America--but nothing like I used to do.
In short, my life got kind of dull. It’s great for posting little 140-character one-offs on Twitter, but it really sucks for posts of any substance on LJ. But I’m alive! And maybe I’ll stop being such a stranger ‘round these parts ;)
