The long summer nightmare has ended...

...and the Hockey Season has begun. Thank the Hockey Gods!

I was a bit...not happy with what I saw of the game from Atlanta on Friday. Maybe it was a media hangover, maybe it was being rattled from the very, very scary collapse of Pavelec (and thank goodness, Ondrej will be OK). But I went into last night's home opener with a bit of trepidation, the habits of over a decade of bad Caps hockey still hard to break. Would they bounce back? Would they win?

I should have had more faith in the team. The first period was a bit meh, yes; but then the team exploded, chasing Brodeur from the game, frustrating the Devils enough that even Ilya Kovalchuk threw down, and winning the game decisively 7-2. Good lord, I love this hockey team. A lot. Also on the "love" list: the Caps new Intro vid. It seems to be underwhelming a lot of people, but I love the music and the visuals. What can I say--I'm easy like that.

I brought the still-unnamed new camera to the game tonight, and took a ton of pictures. They're raw, but I still figured they'd be good enough to share. I am really liking the new camera, and I can't wait to refine down its capabilities as the season goes along.

First up: Mike Green and Ilya Kovaluk perform their interpretation of a pairs routine:

Second, roughly 10% of the pictures I took last night.
