I know that I don't update much.  And when I do, it tends to be about surface things, such as what class I am taking, or what wedding plans I've made, or work, etc. etc.  And I usually stay away from political discussion because it inevitably leads to arguements.  But I'm not staying quiet about this.

Like I said, I don't think that everyone would have been saved. People are stubborn, some stay, etc etc. But many of those people didn't have the resources to leave even if they wanted to. And besides evacuation assistance, there are other ways that lives could be saved. When we knew Katrina was definitely coming onshore, why weren't there relief efforts proactively being organized? As for the looting, etc etc... it's terrible the way SOME people respond in a crisis. It's unfortunate how some lawless individuals take advantage of a terrible situation and use it as an excuse to commit crimes. However, I don't think that means that we stop trying to offer aid to those who are peaceful and trying to survive. I think we need more troops or assistance from other states in order to restore the peace in the town and get these people the help they really need.
