Wow, that was amazing! You've captured Spock's tortured soul really well. I'm so glad they've decided to introduce Spock/Uhura in this version of ST because it really... expands his character, if you like. Also, kudos for the amazing quality of clips and audio.
I loved the inclusion of Spock/Uhura ^_^ I really have fallen head over heels in love with that ship...despite my initial thoughts (after my first viewing of it) to be :O O_O It really does expand his character and it definitely humanizes him in a way that TOS!Spock wasn't...which I think is vital for today's audiences. Plus..the geek getting the girl over the 'stud'? Priceless :) I can't wait to see how it progresses in the sequel. In the background...I don't want it taking over the story :)
I have to agree with you about the background, the storyline is great where it is! And I'm kind of glad that Uhura chose to be with Spock rather than Kirk. The man is such a player. :P
Btw, I read that some people were displeased with Kirk's behaviour in the movie, saying he was way too arrogant and cocky, but for some reason it didn't feel over the top for me at all... his self-confident attitude was basically what saved them in the end. Plus, cocky!Kirk is kind of hot, js.

Yes. This. I remember reading that Zoe said she was a little shocked when she read it in the script because she knew that Spock and Uhura were not a couple in the series (though, had the series not taken place in the 60s, Gene Roddenberry really wanted to hook the two of them up :)) but she said after thinking about it, it makes perfect sense. Uhura is determined, brilliant, with her mind set on her career....Spock...is the same. He's definitely more her type than Kirk is. ;)
They actually toned down Kirk's behavior in the movie compared to the first draft of the script, from my understanding. I didn't think he was over the top either...I liked this Kirk, I just liked Spock better ;)

That brings me back to that conversation she had with Spock about not being assigned to the Enterprise. "Yes, I believe you are." :D I so love how ZQ delivered that line. See also: "I want everyone to continue performing admirably." He sure has a very soothing voice...
hehe...I love that scene in the hanger. She's got Spock wrapped around her little finger. He caved so quickly...giving such a weak excuse for not assigning her to the Enterprise in the first place. I love how she appealled to his logical side, listing all the reasons she deserves to be there, while he's kind of clinging to weak emotional excuses.

That's... actually a very neat observation. Gold star for Jessica! :D It's quite interesting how they subconsciously complement each other. I'd definitely like to see more of that in ST II.
