Rant + Partial Trans [Zoom In Super]
Okay, I caved. I started watching The Quiz Show [1] and I couldn't stop.
If the TQS2 finale is anything like the finale of TQS1, we're about to see something real special from Yoko and Sho. It might even rival the awesomeness of the Maou ending.
I just hope they don't copy too much from the plot of TQS1. The only obvious difference I see so far is the thing with Kamiyama sinking into the water. There was nothing like that in TQS1. But the original show did feature a woman (of course; there's always a woman ~_~) as part of the missing memories of the Host.
Just, please, please fing a new angle on this 'mysterious woman' thing, because even for the original show, I could predict 80% of what was going to happen once I'd watched Episode 3.
Stylistically, what I like about TQS1 is that the Producer didn't start out having a lot of screentime. He was there to give cryptic statements at the beginning and the end, but that's about it. Whereas in TQS2, Honma's face comes up every five minutes since they're constantly jumping between the set and the control room. It's like our attention is being fractured and we have to focus on two different things instead of just the question/answer portion.
When I initially heard about this series, a friend and I had the following conversation:
Me: So who's supposed to be crazy again? The Host?
Friend: I think it was the Director.
Me: I dunno if Sho can pull off crazy... Maybe they should've let him play the sane one instead.
Friend: Maybe they're BOTH crazy and it won't make a difference.
Me: XD
I think my friend is psychic. She got it right for TQS1, at least. And now I want Honma and Kamiyama screaming and sobbing at each other the way Yamanobe and Tazaki did in TQS1, oh I want it so baaad =D

Host: We have discovered an embarassing secret about Sakurai Sho as well. And now, let's have a certain person reveal it to us.
Narrator: The popular variety show, Tensai! Shimura Doubutsuen, that airs every Saturday at 7:00 is about to have it's 5th Anniversary. To commemorate, Shimura-san is holding various activites with each of the regular members. At this time, we have a message from a show member, Aiba-san, who also happens to be a member of Arashi.
Sho: I'm kind of worried.
Caption: Is Aiba is doing an impression of Sho?
Aiba: [with sparkles raining down around him] Sho-kun. I know everything about you.
Sho: XD I bet he's never even seen me say this line for real before.
Aiba: [covers face in embarrassment] That was perfect. By my standards, that was 100 points.
Host: We had him tell us a secret about Sho that no one else knows!
Aiba: Some time ago, while he was filming in Beijing, he went around wearing this backpack because they distributed them among the crew, and the crew had a lot of stuff to carry around. Apparently he used that bag the whole time he was there, with various badges stuck to it. But after he came back to Japan, for a whole month, he continued using it every day! Like even when coming to work!
Interviewer: Was the backpack ugly?
Aiba: Let's keep this between the two of us, okay? I don't really want to say this on TV, but... It wasn't ugly, but, how should I say it? It made him look like a grade-schooler.
Sho: Maaaan...
Tanaka: I didn't think Sho-kun would wear a thing like that. It's true, he had a water bottle and some pens and a computer in the bag, but even so. It looked ugly.
Sho: It was convenient!
Host: It's not about the shape or anything, it's just that it's convenient.
Sho: Right, that's why it was a favourite.
Lady: Didn't Tanaka-san use something like that too?
Tanaka: Shhh!
Sho: Now nobody wants to use it anymore.
Host: What actually happened in Beijing that made you wear it?
Sho: The reporters there divided the bags up so I got one. Well, in Japan I don't usually use a backpack, but then I realized how awesome they were. You could have both arms free!

Sho: I could move around so easily. But the other Arashi members all laughed at me for it. XD
