WIP update!
Well, sad to say, I've had to abandon the Crystal/Lily story. It never seemed to coalesce into any kind of narrative, and the couple thousand words I wrote just didn't have any life.
The original idea, because Crystal is so 70s, was to go with it, and do this ladies of the canyon thing where she's a Joni-Mitchell-esque singer living in the canyon with her lover, Lily, and she has a record out soon. Lily goes off on a short tour with Katelynn, while Crystal is asked to be on a Sonny and Cher-like variety show, hosted by Portia and Ryan, exec produced by Ellen. Meanwhile her manager Simon asks her to put up new to the city Siobhan for a few days. There was going to be a lot of lesbian mafia and poly stuff, with Siobhan getting a final line, "Monogamy is overrated." But I couldn't figure out what the story was-just a lot of connected events with no life and no momentum-and I was discouraged realizing that about five people would care about (1) AI femslash of (2) anyone on season 9 that was full of (3) 70s pop culture jokes.
It was the right decision, if a sad one. And sentimentally, I like that the last AI fic I'll have posted is Ryan and Simon having ridiculous roleplaying sex.
I also finished my km_anthology fic, which also fills a
kink_bingo square, because I'm crafty like that.
Now I'm going to be off in a HP haze, though it won't seem that way to you all, as I have four more Kirk/McCoy fics with my beta, as well as a Chekov/Sulu I'm writing for a bingo square. But it's really fun to be writing HP again, and I'm looking forward to getting all this stuff out of my head (finally) and onto the page, and tying this fandom up with a bow much as I did Idol. It's a nice clean feeling. In fact, in the last few weeks I've written drafts of three short HP stories and finished a chapter of the sequel!
In the meantime thanks to this picture I'm now seriously considering writing a 1920s Chapel/Rand-centered AU for next year's STBB because that was too much fun not to do again.
