No, it's not misfirey; I wasn't specific. Most of the book examples are from people I know. The other stuff is from the industry. It's like, it's not enough to buy rather than steal, you also have to buy in the right way, because they're only paying attention to some of it.

I just feel badly when people talk about how much money they have or haven't made on a book, or how their book contract was canceled, and then go on to talk about how there are lots of torrents for their book. Even if I haven't torrented their book, it makes me feel very guilty for not having purchased their book. Some friends of mine made a post about their book contract being canceled that was so angry, and laid the blame so directly on people not buying their book, that I felt guilty that I hadn't bought the book even though it was on a subject that I'm not personally interested in--I still feel quite upset when I'm reminded of it! Other friends of mine lament the lack of translation jobs because not enough people buy manga, and since I'm not particularly interested in manga I feel very guilty! Like, perhaps I should try harder to find manga that I would like so that they can have a job? I don't know. Creators are very scared, then they talk about how angry they are that people don't buy things, and if they're my friends I feel pretty badly, even back when I was on unemployment.
