top 12

Last one before the top ten, so last time most of these couples will dance together, and last time Nigel can save Karen a dancer. Cat looks lovely in that deep blue. Thank goodness they're each dancing twice, because last week was fillertown.

  1. Ellenore and Ryan
    1. lindy hop to "I've Got to be a Rug Cutter" by Boilermaker Jazz Band. Hmm, there were some footwork mistakes here. I can see them thinking, which is never a good sign. But it was really energetic which is probably more important.
    2. broadway to "Razzle Dazzle" from Chicago OBST. I thought it was great, definitely dark and told a story, and they looked good doing it.
  2. Kathryn and Legacy
    1. jazz to "So Nice" by Hot Chip. I thought it was fantastic! They were really strong, great movement. But Nigel stop perving. It's gross.
    2. viennese waltz to "Your Guardian Angel" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. The lifts were lovely and their lines were really pretty even if Legacy's feet were clomping all over the place.
  3. Victor and Karen
    1. tango to "Montserrat" by Orquesta del Plata. It was really strong and well done. I actually kinda liked her for once, maybe because the whole sexy thing was contained and focussed. And as the judges said, Victor had great presence.
    2. hip hop to "Moving Mountains" by Usher. Yeah, that was a lot of nothing interesting or memorable. Kind of well danced, kind of weirdly choreographed, nothing to really hold on to for any of us.
  4. Nathan and Mollee
    1. hip hop to "Ring-a-ling" by Black Eyed Peas. So the choreography of this didn't make a ton of sense to me. The costumes were cute though.
    2. cancan to "Cancan Suite" by Offenbach/Ponchielli. They were the only couple who could have done it well, and it really showed them both off. It was kinda precious, but it was always going to be.
  5. Russell and Noelle
    1. samba to "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira. Very strong, though yeah a little nice.
    2. contemporary to "A Case of You" by Diana Krall. Oh Tyce why are you so literal? But the piece itself was really beautiful. So lovely.
  6. Jakob and Ashleigh
    1. lyrical jazz to "Time Flies" by Lykke Li. First, what a fun little package where they were like, "I'll miss THEM." No wonder they dance so well together. They're great. And they were so beautiful, wow.
    2. cha cha to "Cha Cha Heels" by Rosabel feat. Jeanie Tracy. omg that was so awesome. I just, I love them!!! I'm excited that she got to do her own style at the end, after all the talk about how she's grown (and she has). Of course Jakob was fantastic too and picked it up so well.
I'm so pleased they've got other broadway people in so Tyce can do other things. Jakob and Ashleigh are far and away my faves, but also Ellenore, plus Kathryn and Legacy and Russell and Noelle. Funny how I didn't like any of these ladies except Ellenore in Vegas; they were all annoying in one way or another. But their dancing has been beautiful.
