Rymon fic recs
So, this isn't a rec journal really, as half the stuff I read I don't think of as something anyone else wants to read, but two things spurred me to this post: allysonsedai mentioning that she wanted to read Rymon fic, and samgrrrl saying that she loved fic recs. So I thought I'd start with a Rymon rec list and then maybe go on from there to put down the fics that I really loved of the various little fandoms I've had "affairs" with, if for no other reason than my own records.
A couple of caveats. I don't like angstfests or downer endings. I avoid stories where Simon is a completely uncaring arse just as much as where he's too fluffy. If any of you know of things that aren't at idolslash, let me know. I'm not including the S6 stories because they're easy to find. All of these, though, are also in my memories.
I would love to be able to point you to the Ur-text, the "this is why we love them", the "this is the best story of how they got together" but it doesn't exist. This may be because they don't give good slow burn, but rather seem to me like a collision of planets, a sort of immediate connection, and the story is rather more when (or if) they stopped just fucking and really fell for each other. And there aren't even that many stories to begin with. So I give you six stories to read right now, four more worth checking out, one that has its moments, and the lowdown on the rest.

- S2: greyday, " Grooming" While on that vacation, Ryan shaves Simon's chest. Very sexy before, during, and after.
- S3: belial, " Pretty in Pink" Simon chooses a secret wardrobe for Ryan, who gets his reward at the end of the show.
- S3: slashmoose, " Flowers" Ryan pushes Simon on his TV show, so Simon pushes Ryan in the dressing room after.
- S5: buffylilly, " Stickshifts and Handcuffs" Simon picks up Ryan in a hot car and takes him to a motel for kinky sex.
- S5: high_on_rymon, " Shower and Off to Bed" Ryan's hot fantasy about Simon, with a nice trick on the ending.
- S5: i_bleed_magenta, " The Mysterious Package" Ryan gets a package of a razor and some ties from a fan, and he and Simon put them to good use.
- S2: greyday, " Poem for Ryan" It's the end of another season and Simon decides it's time to declare his feelings. greyday also wrote " Legal", a drabble about the end of the sodomy statues.
- S4: nicheledres, " You're in My Head" Ryan runs from his feelings for Simon but ends up just running right into them. Sweet but not outrageously so, and a nicely arrogant Simon.
- S3: giftofgab, " Loophole" Drabble: Simon can't mess with the contestants, but he can mess with the host.
- S3: giftofgab, " Serious" Ryan puts off Simon's advances, until Simon proves his point.
- S3: belial, " Ten Fingers, Ten Toes" (20 short parts). Ryan and Simon get engaged, come out to their parents, come out publicly by snogging onair, have a threesome with John Stevens, get married, nurse Simon through a bout of heatstroke, adopt John's teenage cousin's baby. While the plot gives us a very fluffy Simon, the threesome sex in ch 10 and honeymoon sex in ch 13 are seriously hot. Whether they're worth Ryan calling Simon "Cozzie" is up to you; I think they are.
- I'm not much for H/C, but I know that's unusual in a slasher, so I don't want to not tell you about these two stories as they might just not be my thing:
- S4: nicheledres, " Broken" (2 parts). H/C and fluff. Simon heals Ryan after a bad breakup and proclaims his love by getting Keith Urban to sing to him.
- S4: nicheledres, " Healing" (5 parts). H/C and fluff. Ryan tries to avoid a severely abusive relationship with Brian Dunkelman. Simon wants to help, but eventually gets shot by Dunkelman. But all's well that ends well. belial wrote a LOT S3, some of which had sex scenes so hot that I rec'd them above even though I find her Simon to be more toothless than I'd like. But they're short, and sometimes fluff is what you're looking for.
- " Caught Red-Handed
" Randy wakes up Ryan and Simon after Matt catches them sleeping together on one of the red room couches. - " Dress Up" Precursor to "Pretty in Pink", Paula watches as Ryan teases Simon by wearing not much more than a leather skirt, and Simon obliges.
- " Guy Fawkes" (2 parts) H/C with a good bit of fluff. Someone blows up the AI studio, with only Ryan and Simon in it. In the tense moments trapped inside, they snog and declare their love. During their recovery from their injuries, they grow distant, then Simon reaffirms his feelings and courts Ryan.
- " Lucky" Fluffy: Simon and Ryan have a post-kinky-sex talk about their love for each other.
- " Quickie" Fluffy first time sex where Ryan gets Simon to move a bit faster then he'd wanted to.
- " Stay" Fluffy: Simon declares his intention to stick around after the end of the season.
- " Stolen Moments" Fluffy: Paula knows Ryan is in love, but not with whom. Later, Ryan goes over to Simon's for steak and sex.
- " Touch" Simon thinks about his lust for Ryan, then Ryan asks him out for a drink.
- " Under the Stars" Ryan puts glow-in-the-dark stars on his bedroom ceiling. Fluffy.
- " Wet" In which Simon lusts after Ryan in a speedo. Sadly for him, Ryan lies out of reach on a float in a hotel swimming pool. Sex ensues but is not described; it's more about the lust.
