I wrote two drabbles this week, one for the performance show and one for the results. They're a little sexier this week.
I signed up for this
26_drabbles challenge, where there's a prompt for each letter of the alphabet, since right now I'm already at 20 planned drabbles. (I've written 13 now, and there are 6 more performance shows and the unveiling of the winner.) I'm sure I can get something out of American Idol Cares about Black People, so that's 21. 7/5/4/3 results gets me to 25. Going back to the semifinals results I didn't write about gives me a cushion of two more in case any of those 4 are a half hour results show (because seriously, you can't get enough Rymon for a drabble off a half hour in which they squish a celebrity performance or two and the results and the Ford ad). With prompts like kiss, unbearable, jealousy, angry, fear and (heh) panic, I'm pretty unconcerned that I'll be able to match up the drabbles to these prompts.
In other news, I watched a great American Experience on Jim Jones and the People's Temple (google it if you have no idea what I'm talking about). I was just old enough in 1978 for the whole thing to freak my shit out, especially with all those kids who were wearing those weird 70s tank tops and flared jeans just like me. It turns out that Jones decided to move to Redwood Valley, CA from Indiana due to a list published in Esquire in January 1962 called "Nine Places to Hide." It was a list of nine places that would survive a nuclear attack, and were:
- The central valley of Chile
- Guadalajara, Mexico
- Mendoza, Argentina
- Christchurch, New Zealand
- Melbourne, Australia
- Malagasy Republic
- Redwood Valley, California
- Belo Horizonte, Brazil
- Cork, Ireland
Guadalajara?
Also I made a ton of icons today, and if I knew how to put them where other people could see them, I'd share, only I'm not awesome at icon making anyway, so you know, feel free to check them out!
