for I saw the Finn Brothers this evening in Central Park!
It was as you would expect: lots of Split Enz, Finn Brothers, and Woodface songs. Everyone sang "Four Seasons in One Day", and they opened with "Weather With You". It was a lovely evening, too, a bit breezy and warm and some worrisome clouds passed over without incident and we danced about and Neil is still God. Also, oddly, grown-up Seamus in my mind.
There isn't much more to say.
calloocallay was here on Monday to catch up on Six Feet Under. We only watched the first half of that horrible "That's My Dog" ep and you know, it wasn't a bad ep before it went all pear-shaped. Yesterday I had a fun drunken sushi dinner with
rubydebrazier. I am having a very good time getting to see Ruby one-on-one now that she's "local Ruby."
I watched the DNC, too, mostly on CSPAN so as to maximize the time watching speeches and white people dance to Wyclef, and minimize commentary. There is something about a political convention that is so intrinsically summery. Those odd vertical signs, those endless speeches from random "rising stars", Edwards and Kerry of course--Wendy's, how cute!--and my secret favourite part, the roll call of states. "Madam Chair, my name is so-and-so-you've-never-heard-of, and the land of these 25 Democrats past and present that I will list for you, home of the tallest haystack, where all the children are above average, proudly gives all of its 5 votes to The Next President of the United States John Kerry!" Hell YEAH, baby!
Wagons ho, or whatever, to all those off to Otakon!
