I don't think I've ever been one to let something like a sports game affect my mood for the worse, but by God I can't even think about this Sabres-Senators series without getting pissed. The first game sucked, but whatever that's just one loss. Then I was at the Hip concert during the Saturday night game, and in desperation to know the result I had to hear about the double overtime loss from a guy wearing a Heatley Senators jersey. Cripes. Then there was last night, which felt much more like a series clinching game even though it was only game 3. And they lost, and poor Jake had to deal with a grumpy Jen on his night off. I mean I had kind of a crappy day before the game even started, but then they lost (and had only ONE SHOT on SIX power plays, gouge my eyes out) and it just got worse.
On the upside, while i was busy pouting we watched the "Mountains" episode of Planet Earth. That series is AMAZING. I'm such a sucker for nature documentaries and this one was especially well filmed and produced. Love it.
Chicago and the Hip show were both super fun. We didn't do anything extravagant in Chi-town, but we walked around and ate great sushi and had some wine. On Sunday we also met up with Avi for lunch and it's always nice to see one of the Lovenesters :) The concert was vintage Hip -- i don't know how they keep going like they do, but I'll keep buying tickets until their concerts show their age. I was so nervous that Jake wouldn't enjoy it -- he knows some of their music but not all, and if you've seen a Hip show then you know how completely bizarre Gord can be. It's endearing to the fans i think, but i wasn't sure how someone new to their music would find it. But he really liked it and had a great time. I checked out the set list for the Friday night show (we went on saturday) and was kind of bummed to see several songs i really wanted to hear were played the night before. But i always do this after a show -- i check out the other set lists and wish i was at that show too.
So basically Hip concert good, Sabres bad. Game 4 is Wednesday night but i don't think i can watch. Maybe that makes me a bad fan, but i think it just means i have a low pain threshold.
