So, I recently watched the film Julie and Julia. Sure, it wasn't the greatest, but the one thing that stuck out about the film was Julie's ambition when it came to her blog. She set herself a goal to cook 524 recipes in 365 days and blog about it. She said that if she gave herself a date to complete it by, it will make her less willing to drop the project midway.
I suppose I should take that advice.
I've just begun writing my third novel. I'm sort of bad when it comes to writing, in that I take a long time to finish them because I'm usually so lazy and lose interest in them. I usually have to end up forcing myself to finish them, mainly because my irl and online friends push me. If I had a deadline, I'm hoping I'd be able to be motivated to finish it. Hoping being the key word.
So, I made some calculations. My minimum daily word count is 750 words, so if I were to write that many words every day for the next 106 days, I should reach 80k, and hopefully the end of my novel. But 106 days is too rough a number. I want a number that ends when a month ends. So, I'll settle for 91 days, giving me a bit of a challenge, if my novel should reach 80k, or even exceed it. That makes my deadline the last day of June.
So I am going to publicly announce that I AM GOING TO FINISH THIS DAMN NOVEL ON THE 30TH OF JUNE.
There, I said it. A bit less than 3 months from now, if this novel isn't finished by then, you all have permission to send me angry emails or yell at me via the internet or some other such thing.
I also want to blog more about this whole ordeal, more than just once a week. Sorta like what Cherie Priest does when she's writing.
Hopefully, this whole crazy thing will work. And in between, I also have to write several short stories to add to my portfolio for trying to get into various creative writing courses. *dies*
I'm in for a busy few months. Wish me luck, all.
