You're entitled to sleep. Turn the phone off. If neccessary, change the announcement message to say I'm fine, I'm asleep, call tomorrow at a more civilized hour.

And where does the Witching Hour fall on the clock relative to the Hour of the Wolf?

See, its very similar, but very different. But, that said, if I had said 'Hour of the Wolf' - No one but you would have understood that! I mean, seriously?

'The witching hour' is when you might say ANYTHING - its more of a 'there's less inhibition here' (think going out and casting circles and shit skyclad regardless of location) - This is not always an 'I'm worried/upset/etc about something and cant sleep' this is sometims just a 'dont stop yourself from doing something you would otherwise think twice about' kind of thing.

'The hour of the wolf' - as you know - is different.

Mine, the other night, happened to be a merging of the two. But, again, only YOU (of the people who read my LJ) would've gotten that.

Have I mentioned how damn fucking much I miss you?! When are you moving your ass back to IL? :)

No time soon. Eric's still got two and a half more years of high school to go, and I may have just landed a new job. And then Kumar might be moving to the Bay Area...

And I really can't be the only person you still talk to with a near-encyclopedic knowledge of B5. I'll buy that I'm the only one who still wears a shirt with an Ivanova quote on it. ("No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow.")

1. Enjoy the time he's still in school - enjoy EVERY minute - it goes WAY too fast.

2. Yay on the new job - didnt know you were in the market for one. See what happens when you go into a massive depressive funktasticness.

3. Yay for Kumar moving out there. Damn, that's a name I havent heard in FOREVER. How's he doing!?

4. Yes, actually, you ARE the only person I stil talk to (on any regular or semi-regular basis) with even a working KNOWLEDGE of B5. (when you tell someone you're going to name your next dog 'Kosh' or 'Ivonova' (but only if she's a russian wolf hound) - or Delenn if its not and they say where the hell did you come up with THOSE names... its just wrong. Very very wrong.

5. I *STILL* covet that damn shirt! :p But not as much as the underdog hat ;)

1. Oh, absolutely. Though I'm disappointed he's quitting baseball this year, switching to volleyball. I think his excuses for why baseball isn't as fun anymore are pretty weak. There's some truth to the idea that there's a few boys who will get unreasonable opportunities to continue playing in the face of poor play, but the real substance (which he won't admit to) is he doesn't want to do the work to improve his game. He'd rather sit on his ass and play video games and watch every episode of Scrubs broadcast--hasn't picked up a baseball since September. I've already warned him that if he thinks he's going to succeed at volleyball, he's going to have to put at least the same amount of time into that sport that he's declining to put into baseball ( ... )

1. Dont you love when you can see their logic and go - ok, fine, I get that but what you're really NOT saying (and the real reason) is... Ahh, the wisdom of age ( ... )

1. And you know you're right when he just shuts up or shuts down. See also: when he bitches about the decisions his basketball coach makes, and I again point out that he should just talk to the guy, which he also refuses to do ( ... )

Turn off the phone? Wait... it DOES that?! SHIT! How'd I miss that function?? :)

I actually turned the ringer to 'vibrate' - and managed to STILL get the phone calls - dad, his sister, her husband, dad again, friend after that... oh, did I mention they started coming in at like 8am?!

The txt msg's started right around then too - as did the IMs and emails on the computer (which I smartly shut off the volume on the speakers for!)

Oh, remind me to pick your brain about cell/PDA/smart phones at some point. I'm not sure that I like the 'jack of all trades' concept - but I'm finding it harder and harder with JUST the cell - but then, I LIKE my super-slim Razr... So I want to pick your brain about pros/cons/opinions (cause I know you have them! :) - and, seriously, like me, how often do people (who know you actually ASK for your opinion! :) )

I turn my phone off whenever I go to the gym, or whenever I was at Palomar College for the baseball class. Maybe my current phone does a better job of it, but my old Motorola T720 would waste most of its battery trying to find the network again while it was locked into the Faraday cage that is a metal gym locker ( ... )

Yeah yeah - off schmoff ;) Actually, see, if I shut it off - or turn the ringer OFF - I get bitched at by people who were TRYING to call me but I slept too late - or forgot to turn it back on until I went to make a call or realized it was 'too quiet' for 'too long' - etc. I am working with my therapist on this. The best we've managed to do was COMPLETELY off for two 1-hour sessions per week ( ... )

People who bitch because your phone is off... that's their problem, not yours. Make it part of your routine--wake up, brush teeth, power on phone, and offer to send the rest a little packet of Kleenex to cry in. It's a tool, not a leash.

BT headsets are da proverbial bomb. Except my phone (dunno how common this is, but for mine at least,) won't connect with more than one BT device at once. If the headset is on, the computer can't dial out until the headset powers off.

Does your laptop not handle sleep well? I never power off my iBook unless I'm doing service on it. I close the lid, it goes to sleep, it stays there until I need it again. Part of my routine is to plug it in every night, so it stays charged. If I take it out on a full charge and don't open it at all, it lasts most of the week. From sleep, it's ready to go in a few seconds ( ... )

1. Yes, but that would assume I had a 'routine' - and right now my routine is managing 1 foot in front of the other out of bed every day. Beyond that, I'm trying to just survive ( ... )
